PixelPhones
Hardware first. Intelligence everywhere.
As Group Creative Director for store.google.com, I led initiatives and teams that strengthened engagement, conversion, and sales across the Pixel Phones experience.
The work combined strategic design, UX improvements, and compelling product storytelling with a commitment to creative excellence across the Google Store.
High bounce rates and short sessions showed that users needed a richer, more immediate reason to engage before comparing specifications or considering purchase details.

Strategy
Unpacking the strategy
Make the hardware irresistible, then let AI prove the difference.
High bounce rates
About 52% of visitors left without fully engaging with the Pixel product pages, signaling that the opening story was not earning attention.
Short sessions
Sessions of roughly two minutes suggested that the experience needed richer storytelling and more useful interaction.
Conversion elements underperformed
Click-through rates for Buy Now and trade-in offers sat below the industry benchmark, creating a clear need for better hierarchy and motivation.
Lead with hardware
A visually striking carousel presented the phone’s form, materials, and color before specifications, building desire through product craft.
Make AI understandable
Short films, interactive sliders, and real-world scenarios made Call Screening, Magic Eraser, and Gemini immediately useful.
Elevate the camera story
Full-screen imagery, comparisons, and UI demonstrations showed how Real Tone, Night Sight, and Video Boost change everyday photography.
Streamline purchase
Buy, trade-in, and promotional actions were placed to reduce friction without overwhelming the product story.
Content
Communicating Gemini
Show, don’t tell. Let product craft and AI capabilities speak for themselves.
The content system used cinematic product views, immersive imagery, concise video, and interactive demonstrations to make complex features feel direct and desirable.
Communicating Gemini
Content creation

People who see the product first fall in love with the hardware. The experience turns that initial desire into an intuitive path to purchase.
Impact

A content-first shopping journey increased attention, clarified Pixel’s advantages, and improved conversion intent.

Conversion Lift
Enhanced shopping experience led to a measurable increase in add-to-cart and checkout completions
